The Phase II development of MonteCedro is reaching new milestones. When completed, our sought-after residences for senior living in Pasadena will include 40 new residences, a new restaurant, additional greenspace and more. The greenspace will also provide a venue where residents can gather for celebrations and outdoor events.
“The new spaces reflect our commitment to enhancing residents’ active lifestyles and providing them with even more ways to socialize, exercise and enjoy all that Creative Living at MonteCedro has to offer,” says David Weidert, Executive Director, MonteCedro.
We broke ground on the new residences last year. Phase II consists of four three-story Modern California Mission-style villas. All the homes will be corner suites to maximize square footage, privacy, and natural light. “These new residences sold out almost immediately, reflecting the strong demand in Pasadena for homes at MonteCedro,” David says.
Currently, the foundations and below-ground construction of Phase II have been completed. “The buildings are now starting to rise above ground, so every day, we can see the progress being made, which is exciting,” David says.
An important part of our role in Altadena is keeping neighbors informed of activities surrounding the construction. Building projects can provide challenges, so we have worked hard to minimize the disruption in several ways. We are renting parking spaces at two local churches for the trades and staff during the week. Through this partnership, the churches receive much-appreciated revenue for space they are not using, and we provide workers with convenient, nearby, off-street parking that limits the impact on the immediate area.
Neighbors and all current and future residents are being kept informed of the project’s progress on a regular basis. As warranted by construction, neighbors receive updates on any significant work that may impact them, to help mitigate unforeseen disruptions.
We remain actively engaged with those who will soon call MonteCedro home. Regularly, we host dinners for future residents at the Athenaeum at Caltech. Along with ECS team members, residents from the MonteCedro Welcome Committee attend to greet future neighbors and get to know them over a wonderful meal. In addition to the dinners, new residents are invited to several Creative Living events each month, including the immensely popular Men’s Breakfast.
Soon, the future residents will be invited to social hours at MonteCedro to allow them to meet with even more people in the community. These opportunities for social connection allow future residents to build great connections as they anticipate moving into their brand-new homes. Through familiarity with the community and their neighbors, the transition to MonteCedro will be as seamless as possible.
“At MonteCedro, we are proud of the Phase II expansion,” David says. It means that new and current residents will have the best-of-the-best in terms of features, amenities, and design elements offered in Southern California senior living.
We expect to have construction complete by the end of 2025, with occupancy beginning in early 2026. When these residences are occupied, it will mark the completion of the original master plan for MonteCedro; and fulfill ECS’s Mission to provide exceptional communities and services to as many seniors in Southern California as resources allow.
