On June 7, 2024, The Covington will celebrate 20 years of delivering on its mission to provide an exceptional community with holistic service to seniors.
The resident-focused anniversary event will take place at Margaret’s Pavilion in the gardens at The Covington, the premier gated retirement community in Orange County, CA. The afternoon will be filled with entertainment and activities. A DJ will provide music for dancing, a range of appetizers and treats will be presented by The Covington’s own culinary team, and guest speakers will reflect on this exciting milestone.
“We will be recognizing some of the long-serving team members and longtime residents,” says Cash Benton, Executive Director of The Covington. “And remembering some of the highlights as well.”
Highlights include an expansion of the campus garden to include a koi pond where residents sit and reflect, updating the garden pavilion, and other landscape renovations that have elevated the ambiance of the community. Another recent addition has been the Care Suites, which represent the organization’s commitment to leading senior living providers with this evolution in how recovery care is delivered; a change driven by resident preference.
The event will truly celebrate the role of community at The Covington and the role The Covington plays within the greater community. “We’re a member of the Aliso Viejo Chamber of Commerce, and many residents move here from surrounding areas such as Laguna Beach, Laguna Woods and Laguna Niguel,” Cash says. “So our role in the greater community is not just important to The Covington team members, it’s also important to our residents who value our connection and contribution to the region.”
The Covington is home to more than 200 people, some who have called it home since the day we opened. Here, friendships are forged based on common interests, and sometimes these interests inspire people to try something new, such as various pursuits offered through the Creative Living program. “After 20 years, we are now seeing children of our original residents visiting us and inquiring about moving in to enjoy the holistic lifestyle their parents experienced,” Cash says. “The Covington is becoming a multi-generational community.”
Some of the long-serving team members have been with The Covington almost since the doors opened. “They really create a culture,” Cash says. “They forge bonds with the residents and each other. At a time when other businesses see employees come and go, we are proud to be able to celebrate the impact of our uniquely talented and dedicated team members — their smiles, their character, what they bring every day. They are committed to knowing everyone on a personal level, and truly make a difference in the lives of many.”
Looking back on the past two decades, Cash says, “I am so grateful that we have delivered on our initial promise to be the premier senior living community in Aliso Viejo, motivated by service to our residents, the advancement of our employees, and being a good neighbor in the greater community. Our nonprofit structure has allowed us to continually reinvest back into the community, keeping it like new for our residents and their families.”
“At ECS, we are so proud of the talented team members who have built their careers with us, and grateful for our residents who show their confidence in The Covington and our other communities through the energy and enthusiasm they bring to building the connections that enrich their lives each day. Congratulations to The Covington on their anniversary, and we look forward to the next 20 years,” says James Rothrock, President and CEO of ECS.
