Mother’s Day is one of our favorite occasions here at ECS. The adage “to the world you are a mother, but to your family you are the world,” expresses our feelings perfectly and is a beautiful reminder of the gratitude mothers deserve.
After a trying year that included a lengthy separation from our loved ones, we have even more to celebrate this Mother’s Day. To honor the occasion, our creative and dedicated chefs have created some wonderful menus and are serving them up with style.
The Canterbury — Saturday, May 8
Our creative living campus in Rancho Palos Verdes will be honoring Mother’s Day with fresh flowers and a butterfly theme.
Along with an exquisite brunch, our female residents will receive a surprise that we hope will bring a smile to your face. The menu includes mouth-watering options such as steamed lobster tail and crab legs with lemon-garlic marinated grilled artichokes, lox eggs benedict with caper-dill hollandaise, and pan-seared filet mignon with thyme-infused red wine sauce. To complete the meal, dessert options include chocolate-dipped strawberries and petit fours.
Two seatings for 65 people each are available from 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM and 1:00 PM – 2:30 PM. Please note that brunch will be the main meal; dinner will be delivered as a cold option.
MonteCedro — Sunday, May 9
Our resort-style, assisted living community, nestled in the foothills of Altadena, is planning something extra special. Crisp white tablecloths, pastel napkins and fresh flower centerpieces will set the mood for a Mother’s Day brunch that begins with a refreshing and celebratory mimosa.
The menu includes a delectable selection of à la carte items, including traditional brunch favorites such as eggs benedict, and pear salad with champagne dressing. Or enjoy a leg of lamb with rosemary jus, poached salmon with cucumber raita or a vegan version of Moroccan ‘meat’ pie. These delicious items can be topped off with a honey lavender crème brulée for dessert.
MonteCedro has two seating times available, 11:00 AM – 12:15 PM and 12:30 PM – 1:45 PM, with each welcoming 64 people at our indoor tables and 18 people outside. Please be sure to reserve your table for this festive brunch.
The Covington — Sunday, May 9
While Mother’s Day is certainly not a competition, the chefs at our continuing care retirement community in South Orange County say they will not be outdone.
This year’s special menu is divided into three courses. Starters include potato leek soup and roasted beet salad with goat cheese and Dijon vinaigrette. Choices of entrées include cabernet braised short ribs served over bourbon mashed potatoes or fresh grilled halibut with pomegranate champagne beurre blanc. Individual strawberry shortcakes and a flourless chocolate torte are the perfect finish to a memorable meal.
These plated menu options are offered in The Grandview with four seating times: 12:45 PM, 1:00 PM, 1:15 PM, and 1:30 PM. Maximum capacity will be 60 guests. On Mother’s Day, room delivery of the special lunch menu will be available from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM.
Mother’s Day is filled with meaning for all of us. On behalf of the entire ECS family, we wish all Mothers much love, laughter, and a wonderful day in your honor.
