Please join us in congratulating Chef Angel Kanakubo on winning the Cheesecake competition for the Himber Region. Chef Angel not only created an amazing Cheesecake but also incorporated one of the Super Foods ‘cranberries’ in her creation. Her recipe will be added to the Webtrition recipe database.
I studied Patisserie and Baking in Le Cordon Bleu Los Angeles in 2011. I have been the Pastry Chef at MonteCedro since 2016. Before that, I’ve worked at several bakeries in Los Angeles including House of Bread, The Village Bakery and Café and CakeMonkey Bakery. I have also catered desserts for weddings and special events all over Southern California.
I recently got married in December of 2019. My husband, who is also a chef, and I live in Simi Valley, California with our dog, Nova.
I love making all kinds of desserts but my favorite would have to be a good old fashioned pie. Nothing beats the contrast between a nice flakey crust and a fruity or creamy filling, plus the ice cream on top! When I’m not baking, I enjoy crafts, art and design. I love to paint and I am currently an Interior Design student.
Working at MonteCedro has given me purpose beyond just baking. It means a great deal to be able to give joy to our residents through the food we create.
