As you begin to compare Southern California senior living options, cost may be one of your first questions. It hasn’t been easy to convey the breadth of savings that comes from calling one of our ECS communities home. Until now.
Charlie Rahilly, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of ECS spearheaded the creation of the Cost of Living Calculators. These online or paper-based tools provide insight into the true cost of maintaining your own home — with the multiple fees, expenses and taxes required, compared to the all-in-one fees at an ECS community.
A Cost of Living Calculator has recently been added to each of our independent living communities’ websites: MonteCedro in Altadena; The Canterbury in Rancho Palos Verdes; and The Covington in Aliso Viejo.
“We’ve been able to quantify the many amenities and benefits of living here,” says Krista Nay, ECS Vice President, Sales and Marketing. “Rather than simply giving someone a price per month, we are able to tell them what that number really means and all it includes.”
Now, people have a self-driven tool to evaluate the cost of living at an ECS community in the privacy and comfort of home. This calculator is part of the comprehensive Getting Started resources. It helps identify the true cost of your current living situation and compare it with monthly fees at one of our senior communities in Los Angeles and Orange County. Some of the savings our residents enjoy include:
Cost of Home Ownership, such as:
Home upkeep including:
There are no utility fees, repair charges or maintenance fees in our communities, and being a resident means you enjoy weekly cleaning service.
Lifestyle. Consider what you spend on recreation and entertainment. With our vibrant Creative Living programs, a breadth of wellness classes, cultural events, museum and garden visits, as well as art and educational courses are all included in your monthly payment.
Wellness. These expenses may include:
Each ECS community has its own security and 24-hour support, and every community has a fitness center, pool and group classes to maintain or improve your strength.
As one resident said, “Once I moved in, I realized I didn’t need to spend time grocery shopping or cooking if I didn’t want to.” The chores that had defined her day, and the home maintenance that punctuated her months all went away.
Calling one of our communities home means added time to focus on what you enjoy — from fitness classes or language studies to art lessons, excursions, lectures, films and more. And should the need arise, care is available.
“Residents tell us how much they appreciate the extra time to pursue their interests, now that the various projects involved with maintaining a home are no longer necessary,” Krista says. The result is more opportunity to be your full self, which is priceless.
